On Saturday the 24th of June during the Refugee Week, NESTAC took part as one of the participant organisations to the Exodus festival 2006 at Hulme Park, Manchester. This once-a-year Event was the opportunity for NESTAC to highlight the good job it is doing in promoting arts and cultures by the African community (Immigrants, Refugees) in the Greater Manchester (Rochdale).
Our Volunteers got involved in number of ways including running a stall where an exposition of African crafts, clothing, statues and statuettes, paints, music, etc. grabbed the attention of many visitors. They run also workshops to teach the audience traditional dance or music from different part of Africa. Some ladies took great pleasure to do a demonstration of African-style hairdressing.

At NESTAC, one of our goals is to facilitate integration by helping people of African origin living in the Rochdale area to better understand British culture in different points, and we teach them how to live with both cultures and how to promote their own by sharing values.
So, this Event was again the opportunity to demonstrate this aspect of our job or activities. Therefore, to ensure that Rochdale people from different origin will mix together and share this great experience, NESTAC booked a coach to ease the journey to Hulm Park and allow those who wished to bring their families to do so.
